ENC Firing Range & Shooter's Club

You MUST Present your ID Card to the Range Officer

These rules are for everyone’s safety; you must read and obey them all!  You will be required to read and sign a copy of all range rules upon application for membership.  Rules will include but may not be limited to the following.  The printed version (available on a link in this web page, and at the range in hard copy) is the most complete and accurate documentation of all range rules; review this document periodically and ensure that you are in complete compliance with all requirements.

CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOL OR ILLEGAL DRUGS IS PROHIBITED!!

(You cannot enter or join the firing range if any impairing substance is in your bloodstream)

You MUST be able to LEGALLY possess and/or purchase a firearm!!

Hearing & Eye Protection are mandatory throughout the range.

· You must be at least 18 years old to use the range without Adult supervision.

· Never enter the range with any type of loaded firearm. No illegal weapons allowed!

· Sign in at the check-in station, weapons will be checked by Range Officer. Range Officers wear bright yellow.

· You MUST be on the firing line in order to load your firearm.

· Do not load unless you are on the firing line and the line is a “hot line”.

· When using the steel reactive range, you MUST have a holster. The ONLY time your firearm can be taken out of the holster is when you are standing in one of the RED BOXES. You also must be facing the steel targets, looking down range.

· Load ONLY while you are in the RED BOXES, loading anywhere else is not allowed.

· You load, fire, clear your weapon, and re-holster an EMPTY weapon before you turn around and exit the RED BOXES. You may fill your magazines at the table but DO NOT load your weapon until you are in one of the RED BOXES and facing the steel targets. Give all unfired/defective rounds to a Range Safety Officer.

· No “cross-firing”; shoot the plates from the left end of the table, and shoot the Pepper Poppers from the right end of the table.

· No magnums or any type of firearm with a muzzle velocity over 1200 feet per second, and no armor piercing rounds of any kind, are allowed on any of the steel targets at the range.

· If the auto-reset is being used then the plate and popper target shooters must step back. The running target must be operated by a Range Officer; just let us know you want to use it. When the running target is in use then no one can be shooting at the other steel targets because the moving target shooter is “fanning” his/her weapon.

· Pick up your brass shells. Brass goes in the big white and blue bucket marked for brass only. Any steel or aluminum shells go into the black bucket.

· No rifles, shotguns, carbines, BB guns, AK or AR type pistols are allowed on the steel reactive range. (BBs are steel and will bounce back at the shooter).

· To use the Pistol Booths, you must have a handgun case or holster. First yellow rope is 7 yards, which is the minimum firing distance. You cannot shoot with the target any closer than the first yellow rope.

· Second yellow rope is 12 yards. IF you are shooting at a silhouette and are shooting “head shots”, the second yellow rope is the minimum distance.

· Magnum loads are allowed in the pistol booths. Targets can be rolled out to the limit, which is 25 yards.

· No rifles, shotguns or carbines are allowed in booths #1 thru #6.

· No rapid fire is allowed in the pistol booths. You can shoot fast or quick as long as you are bringing the front sight back down to the center of the target after each recoil before firing again. Be sure to “center” your target on the cardboard backing. The staple guns hang on the end of the wall.

· Pick up your brass shells. Brass shells go into the blue buckets and the steel or aluminum go into the black buckets. Give all unfired/defective rounds to a Range Officer.

· Booth # 8 is where rifle usage begins. Shotguns are allowed but only if the shooter is using slugs. Birdshot and buckshot must be used on another range. Please take care of the equipment (ie; spotting scopes, rifle cradles, etc.). NO RAPID FIRE is allowed on the 100-yard rifle range, and no “hip shooting” is allowed on the 100-yard rifle range.

· While moving with a long gun (rifle or shotgun), always keep the muzzle pointed away from other people. NEVER allow the muzzle of ANY firearm to be pointed at another person.

· Booths 9 and 10 have a 25-yard target as well as a 100-yard target. You can sight in on the 25-yard target then go to the 100-yard target without ever changing booths. The booths and target frames are numbered, make sure you are lined up with the target marked with the same number as the booth you are using.

· Pick up your shell casings. Brass goes into the blue buckets and steel or aluminum go into the cardboard barrel. Be sure to place any “paper” trash in the trash cans. DO NOT place any unfired rounds in the trash cans! Give all unfired/defective rounds to a Range Safety Officer.

· Take any glass containers with you, do not leave them at the range, do not place them in the trash cans. Aluminum drink cans go in the blue barrel next to the Range Office.

· When the “line” is “hot” live fire is allowed.  A “Cold Line” means no firing is allowed. An electric buzzer horn is the signal that a “cold line” is coming, you have 60 seconds to finish firing. A Range Officer will make one on one contact to insure ALL firearms are EMPTY.  Take out your magazine, lock the slide back or leave the revolver cylinder open (nothing can be in the chamber), and lay the firearm down pointed down range. Then step out of the booth or back away from your long gun. No one is allowed to touch a firearm while people are down range.

· No one can go down range until the Range Officer calls the line “cold” and declares movement down range allowed. No one can resume firing until the line is called “hot” by a Range Officer. When you need a “cold” line simply let a Range Officer know.

· No armor piercing or tracer rounds are allowed. Know what type of ammo you are using.

· Rapid fire, tactical handgun firing, and birdshot or buckshot are allowed on Range # 3 (multi-purpose Range). You MUST let a Range Officer know if you want to use Range # 3 or #4 before using it. Skeet shooting is done on Range #3 also ($5.00 per 25 shots). If rapid firing, you must be no further than 15 yards from the dirt backstop. Always keep the weapon pointed down range, do not load until you are on the firing line (tactical rifle fire is allowed on Range #4, see Range Officer BEFORE performing ANY tactical rifle or handgun firing).

· You must notify a Range Officer before using Range #4. It has a large training bay. There is a ONE HOUR usage limit on Range #4 IF others are waiting to use either Range #3 or #4 (Range # 3 cannot be used when Range #4 is in use).

· There are marked buckets on Ranges #3 & #4, BE SURE to place your empty shells in the correct bucket. PICK UP YOUR EMPTY SHELLS! Give all unfired/defective rounds to a Range Officer. PICK UP YOUR TRASH!

· Never load unless you are ON THE FIRING LINE, keep your finger OFF OF THE trigger until your gun is on target. NEVER point a firearm at another person. Never go down range unless it is a “cold line”.

· Children MUST be monitored and supervised at ALL TIMES. Children are more than welcome but the supervising adult MUST monitor and control their children at ALL times.

· Donations for targets, drinks, etc. go into the RED AMMO CAN under the shelter on the rifle rack.

· Obey all commands of the Range Safety officers. If you do not understand something simply ask for an explanation.

· A LONG continuous blast from the electric buzzer horn, in addition to verbal shouts from Range Officers, means there is a total range and immediate cease fire in effect.

· Use of the range by children and young adults shall be in accordance with the following guidelines.

Ž Ages 8 thru 10: single shot bolt action 22 cal. rifle or single shot 410 gauge shotgun.

Ž Ages 10 thru 12: single shot 22 cal. revolver or 22 caliber semi-auto rifle and larger gauge shotgun.

Ž Ages 12 thru 14: semi-auto 22 caliber handgun and larger caliber rifle.

Ž The young adult MUST be at least 14 years old WITH experience in order to fire ANY type of handgun, revolver or semi, that is of a larger caliber than a 22 caliber (exceptions will be made based upon the young adult’s experience and ability).

· Adult MUST be supervising the child at all times!

· At NO TIME will a supervising adult allow or force a child to use any firearm that is beyond the child’s ability to safely handle.

· Report ALL injuries, no matter how minor, to a Range Officer. Band-aids and First Aid supplies are kept on site.

· Person(s) refusing to comply with the Range Safety Rules or who have an unsafe weapon, or who by their conduct demonstrates their presence to be a safety hazard, will be told to leave the premises.

· Before using the 275 yard rifle range the shooter MUST show he/she is properly sighted in at the 100 yard range. Before going to the 275 yard range the shooter must come into the range, sign in, and let a Range Officer know he/she is on the 275 yard range. Life members and gate key holders must do the same. Even if the range is closed there is a hold harmless agreement for guests, rules, and a sign in sheet available in the green pouch on the bulletin board (guest fees still apply even during closed hours, fees should be placed in the marked slot on the steel grey container).
